The Wards decided to completely transform their '80s Tarzana tri-level, with its cedar-shake roof and wood siding, into an updated Mediterranean. They and their two kids moved into temporary quarters, and the house was stripped to its studs. A great room and dining room were added, a richly-appointed new kitchen took shape, every door and window was replaced, the entry was reconfigured along with all the walkways, driveway, and planters, and the rear deck was redone as a more welcoming, lush space, framing expansive views of the pool and valley beyond.
